Hi,
I wish to thank all the kind and generous people at Back-in-Action who sponsored me for my half marathon moonlight walk in aid of St Catherine’s hospice on Saturday the 26th of May.
I completed the walk in a new record time for me in 3 hours and 50 mins.
Because it is Guild Year this year, men were allowed to compete as well, but only for this year. It was great fun to see some of the men take good part and dress up in pink tutus and flashing bunny ears etc. They caused a great stir in downtown Preston dressed in their pink. The dress, apart from the T-shirt was optional and I had wanted to dress up myself. However my daughter who walked with me refused to walk with me if I dressed up – party pooper. Next year I think I will dress up.
Also for the first time this year, there was a shorter walk of 8 miles and a lot of youngsters with their parents entered this.
I think because the men were walking this year and with the extra short walk, there were not as many stewards as there had been in previous years, but still we were looked after and some stewards wre going round and round the route to make sure everone was okay.
Even with all the training and being much futter, the last 2 miles are tremendous effort, but I must admit, getting to that finish line is a great achievement and I feel like an athlete in the Olympics crossing the line.
The total amount I have been sponsored will total around £160, and with a lot of people gift-aiding their donations, hopefully this will be quite a lot more.
Thank you som much in your help in allowing me to pass the donations to St Catherine’s.

P.S. Due to the fact may daughter will be moving to London, although she does wish to do the walk next year, I may be looking for another training partner, but beware, I do moan and whine.
