Louis Westerbeek

BSc (Psych), MSc, BSc (Chiro) DC, CCEP, CAPN, Doctor of Chiropractic

louis westerbeekHi,

Welcome to Back-in-Action. My name is Louis, I am from Preston and I graduated as a chiropractor in 1996, from the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, after 4 years of full time training, for a BSc in Chiropractic.

With over 28 years experience of working as a chiropractor and seeing improvements in many thousands of people, I have great confidence we will be able to help you with your problem.

The main aim of chiropractic care is to help your body work better. I have been able to help people with a huge range of problems, from people in pain for over 30 years to those having more recent onset.  You can read more about the benefits of their chiropractic experience in our testimonials section. If we cannot help you we’ll do our best to see you get the right people, to receive the kind of care that will most likely help move you towards recovery.

Before I became a chiropractor I was a chiropractic patient. I originally went to see a chiropractor after a road traffic accident when I was 21 on recommendation from my great aunt and my dad. Many of my great aunt’s elderly friends had found chiropractic a lot of help and my dad had a knee problem which he had been told would need surgery, which really improved with chiropractic care.

My first experience of chiropractic was sufficient to give me some relief and stir my interest in training myself. I had a long standing interest in the nervous system, skeleton and health and chiropractic seemed a great way to develop on these interests. To be honest I still had some residual symptoms after my early chiropractic care and it took years of further training and treatment with many of the world’s top chiropractors and other experts to really feel totally improved. I have studied extensively since graduating and the courses I attended are outlined below. The areas that I most integrate into day-to-day practise in addition to my basic chiropractic skills are Functional Neurology/ Clinical Neuroscience, Nutrition, Extremity Techniques (CCEP), Applied Kinesiology (AK), Rehabilitation, Ergonomics and Neuro-Emotional Technique (NET).

Along the way I have experienced many different kinds of health problems that have benefited from chiropractic care to reduce the physical, chemical and nervous system stresses that we are all exposed to.

I have also been fortunate to have drawn on the benefits of my exposure to many other health disciplines such as Tai Chi, Chi Kung, Yoga, Meditation, Massage, the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, Counselling, Life Coaching, Nutrition, Cranial Sacral Technique, Running, Gym Work, Pilates and many others.

Luckily for you, the many skills I have acquired I can apply to help you get better quickly and stay healthier.

I continue to receive regular chiropractic care now which helps to keep me fit and healthy, so I can continue to work to help serve other people and enjoy life. I have learned that early prevention is always better and there is no need to suffer.

At Back-in-Action we are also grateful to have working with us a team of other excellent complementary practitioners who provide a range of therapies, including Massage, Homeopathy, Hypnotherapy, Alexander Technique, CranioSacral, Reiki and Sport Rehabilitation. Please feel free to explore any of these you wish to as they all complement what we are trying to do to improve your health through chiropractic care.

So I very much hope you enjoy your experience of chiropractic care at Back-in-Action and it fully lives up to your expectations. Being a patient in my experience is always a learning curve, though we hope it will be lots of fun too.
