How to manage back pain during pregnancy
It’s no wonder back pain is such a common complaint, as the body is gaining more weight, your centre of gravity is lowered and your ligaments are starting to relax to prepare your body for labour. Pregnancy massage can help alleviate pain and discomfort. Gentle exercise to strengthen the core abdominal muscles can help to take some of the strain off your back and prevent acute localised pain in your lower back.
Try some gentle yoga exercises or going for a walk as a way to incorporate some exercise into your day and keeping your muscles active.

June is national migraine and headache awareness month!
Did you know… Chiropractic treatment can be used to treat chronic headaches and according to a study carried out in North America, Europe and Australia approximately 10% of all chiropractic patients attend for the treatment of headaches.
Headaches can be caused by dysfunction in the neck, physical trauma, visual strain or muscular tension. Both massage and acupuncture can help ease the pain associated with migraines and tension type headaches. Please ring us on 01772 749245 to book your appointment.
Local Chiropractor Louis Westerbeek from Back-in-Action, Penwortham, explains, “However sometimes in rare cases, headaches and migraines, can be a sign of more serious problems so if you suffer from recurrent or chronic headaches it is often good to seek professional advice.”
Visit the Back-in-Action website at www.back-in-action.com to learn more about factors effecting headaches.

Joint support for summer sport
The long evenings and warm temperatures (well, we can hope!) encourage many of us to be more active over summer. It’s a great time to take up a new activity, improve our fitness, or lose weight.
Tennis is a fantastic activity: it builds strength, improves cardiovascular fitness, can help to strengthen our bones, improves coordination, and gets us exercising outside in the sun (for our vitamin D!). Another thing that’s great about tennis is that it has a social element too – giving us one-to-one time with friends and helping us meet other people, which is so often lacking in today’s technology-driven world.
However, tennis can be tough on our joints, especially for those who are not used to impact sports. And it’s not just the older generations who suffer!
Fortunately, there’s plenty we can do to look after our joints naturally, both over the summer and year-round. Click 'read more' to view our top foods and supplement suggestions that can help keep you in action on the courts.
