Evidence Shows Massage Therapy May Be As-Or More Effective Than Standard Medical Treatment Fof Non-Specific Back Pain

Preston Massage Therapy Back-in-Action Chiropractic PrestonMassage therapy has been shown to clinically reduce pain. A recent study showed that massage worked as well as paracetamol or non-steroidal anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs) combined with physical therapy for the commonest form of back pain.

Patients were randomly assigned into one of three groups: Physical therapy with medication, Swedish massage or Deep Tissue massage. All had pain for at least the previous 3 months. Whilst all 3 groups showed similar benefits after 1 year, the two massage groups both had made greater improvements by 10 weeks and 6 months, suggesting massage worked more quickly to get people out of pain and help them get back to normal life.
